In our training experience, we have found the most challenging aspect of the Instructor Exam (IE) is the Dive Theory Exams. The IDC Prep course is designed to give the IDC candidate extra dive theory exam preparation, paying particular attention to Physics and Physiology, to ensure their success on the Instructor Exam. During a typical IDC, there is little time to review these topics. The Sugar Land Dive Center IDC Prep Course reviews these topics and identifies any weak areas that need strengthening. This is why our IDC Prep Course is included with all of our IDCs.
What is the PADI Instructor Development Course
The PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) consists of two parts – the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program.
Most dive professionals will complete both parts of the IDC in one program. Once you have successfully completed your IDC, you will be qualified to attend a PADI Instructor Examination (IE). This is the final step to earn your PADI Instructor Certification.
During your PADI Instructor Development Course, you will learn how to apply the PADI System of Education by presenting:
Confined Water Teaching Presentations.
Knowledge Development Presentations in the Classroom
Open Water teaching presentations integrating two skills.
You will also cover key topics such as:
PADI Standards and Procedures
Learning, Instruction, and the PADI System
Risk Management and Diver Safety
Marketing Diving and Sales Counseling
The PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) is the cornerstone of professional-level scuba diver training. The Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) will prepare you to function as a qualified professional PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor by introducing you to the complete PADI instructor training system. The course focuses on your ability to use all components of the system as a professional dive educator. The PADI IDC combines the PADI Assistant Instructor and the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor courses.
At Sugar land Dive Center we believe completing your PADI Instructor Development Class in one continuous block of time is most beneficial. However, we realize that your work or life schedules don’t always allow this. That is why we also offer IDCs conducted over an extended period, such as weekend or weeknight schedules.
