As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you’ll have the opportunity to assist in teaching scuba courses under the supervision of a certified Open Water Scuba Instructor.

What You’ll Gain from the Assistant Instructor Program

The PADI Assistant Instructor Course is a five-day program that builds upon your previous Divemaster training and is also the first component of the PADI Instructor Development Course. You’ll gain a thorough understanding of the PADI System of training and learn how to apply it in practice. You’ll develop your skills in presenting knowledge development and conducting confined and open-water teaching presentations. Additionally, you’ll learn important safety and risk management techniques and effective communication strategies for working with students.

Prerequisites

  • Be a PADI Divemaster or qualifying certification from another certification organization.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have 60 logged dives, including night, deep, and navigation dives.
  • Have been a certified diver for at least 6 months.
  • Have CPR and First Aid Training within the last 24 months.
  • Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
