Welcome to Sugar Land Dive Center's PADI Instructor Development Course! Our comprehensive program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to become a certified, competent PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Sugar Land Dive Center also offers the following opportunities with our PADI IDC:

Air Fill Station Overview. You will observe and learn how to fill scuba cylinders and basic compressor maintenance.

PADI Gas Blender course. During this course, you will learn how to blend Nitrox cylinders and properly clean and prepare scuba cylinders and equipment for oxygen exposure.

Rental Equipment Maintenance. You will learn the correct procedures for handling and inspecting rental equipment and how to perform basic repairs.

If you are completing your PADI IDC in preparation for looking for job opportunities or traveling during a Gap Year, we also offer Resume writing workshops and assistance with job placement using our extensive network throughout the dive industry.

Our next PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) will begin on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Evening and weekend IDC sessions for those who need to extend their program start on Monday, April 29, 2024

The PADI Instructor Exam will be held in Dallas on May 18/19.

Our next scheduled IDC in Cozumel starts on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

What are the prerequisites for enrolling in the PADI IDC?

To enroll in an Instructor Development Course, you will need to meet the following
requirements:

Have been a certified diver for at least six months
Be a minimum of 18 years old.
Be a PADI Divemaster or Dive Professional in good standing with another agency
Have at least 60 logged dives to enter the IDC and 100 logged dives to attend an Instructor Examination.
Complete an Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care certification course (or equivalent course) within the past  24 months.
Be medically cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months.
